Should abolish the 10th grade exam, reduce pressure on students
The pressure from the 10th grade entrance exam is becoming a big burden for students, parents and teachers. At the meeting with voters in Hanoi on September 23, General Secretary To Lam emphasized the need to reduce exams and move towards popularizing high schools, because too many exams are costly and tiring for the whole society. This view has received the consensus of many parents and students, many opinions suggesting that the 10th grade exam should be abolished to reduce pressure.
grade 9 students have almost no time to rest when they have to review continuously for the exam, which is considered an important turning point. They are under heavy psychological pressure and study time, while parents also have to accompany, spend a lot of extra study costs and face prolonged fatigue. Many families admit that the exam has caused an imbalance in their lives and limited their children's opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities.

From the perspective of teachers, this exam also creates a lot of pressure, and can replace the exam with an admission form based on the learning process, to encourage students to study all subjects equally and comprehensively assess their abilities. See more...
The Ministry of Education and Training limits extra teaching hours for public teachers, paying one and a half times their salary
Circular 21/2025/TT-BGDDT issued by the Ministry of Education and Training on September 23, 2025 stipulates the regime of paying overtime wages to teachers in public educational institutions. An important new point is that teachers are paid for extra teaching hours without the need for schools to lack staff as before. Each extra-curricular lesson is paid 150% compared to the regular lesson, but the total number of paid periods is a maximum of 200 periods per year.
The Circular also adds regulations on payment time: payment is made after the end of the school year. In case teachers retire, quit, or transfer, they will be paid immediately at the time of decision by the competent authority. If teachers have not taught for enough a school year, they will receive an overtime teaching regime corresponding to the actual working time, ensuring the rights of teachers. See more...
Boarding meal Provider says it will sue many principals in Dien Bien
In Dien Bien, many principals of schools in mountainous areas are facing the risk of being sued for arbitrarily canceling the boarding food supply contract signed with Si Pa Phin High-Tech Agricultural Cooperative. According to Director of Ha Van Tai Cooperative, since the beginning of June, the cooperative has signed contracts with 42 schools in Nam Po district (old), but so far nearly 20 schools have not implemented them but have switched to signing with other suppliers, causing great damage to the cooperative that had prepared food sources in advance.

Meanwhile, many principals did not give a specific reason when canceling their contracts, even avoiding answering the press. According to the provisions of Decree 214/2025 and the instructions of the Department of Education and Training of Dien Bien, the principal is responsible for selecting a food supply contractor. However, the sudden, unpredictable change has increased the situation, especially when the cooperative once agreed to sell food at the price proposed by the school to support boarding meals for students.
On September 10, a nearly 10-hour meeting between 11 principals, accountants and 3 food suppliers took place in Na Hy commune. The meeting was tense with many controversies but could not reach a consensus, finally the parties temporarily divided the market share to 3 suppliers until September 20. See more...
