Aptitude assessment surveys are a form of enrollment in grade 6 that has been implemented by 6 schools in Ho Chi Minh City (before the merger) in recent years.
The schools include: Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School, Hoa Lu Secondary School, Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Binh Tho Secondary School, Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School and Nguyen Huu Tho Secondary School.
In the 2026-2027 school year, this group of schools is expected to continue enrolling students in the form of capacity assessment surveys.
At Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) said that the entrance exam to grade 6 in the 2026-2027 school year will be the first year implemented after the merger, so the structure of the survey questions will be kept stable as in the previous year.
In 2025, the 6th grade survey of Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School consists of 2 parts: multiple-choice and essay.
Multiple-choice section: 20 multiple-choice questions (to be done in 30 minutes).
The essay part (made in 60 minutes) includes 3 parts: Survey of English proficiency (hearing comprehension, reading comprehension, writing), students do the test in English; Survey of Math and logic thinking proficiency, students do the test in Vietnamese; Survey of reading comprehension and writing proficiency, students do the test in Vietnamese.
In 2025, Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School received 4,551 applications to participate in the school's survey. With a target of 350, the competition ratio for the school is 1/13.8.
Previously, Binh Trung Ward People's Committee also had a document sent to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training regarding the proposal to continue organizing entrance exams for grade 6 in the 2026-2027 school year at Tran Quoc Toan Secondary School with 350 students.
The content and time of survey organization will be based on the Enrollment Plan for the first grades of the 2026-2027 school year of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training and the enrollment guidelines for the first grades of the 2026-2027 school year of Binh Trung ward.
