Having registered for the first round of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam, and also taking the exam and having IELTS 7.0, Nguyen Thuy Chi, a 12th grade student in District 1, still expressed concern before the upcoming university admission round.
Thuy Chi plans to apply for admission to the Marketing and Economic Law major of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance.
"If last year, after the competency assessment exam, I had the results I could apply for early admission, then my studies would be more easy, but this year the admission will take place later, along with the general admission round, so I have to try to study hard and not be subjective," Thuy Chi shared.
Phan Tuan Anh - a 12th grade student in District 1 - also said he was a bit worried because it was not clear how the admission would be conducted.
"Now schools only have information about expected enrollment, and it may continue to change. So I hope the ministry will soon announce the admission regulations so that schools can soon announce official admission information," Tuan Anh expressed.
At a recent admission consulting program held in Ho Chi Minh City (March 2), Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy - Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training - said that the 2025 university and college admission regulations will have some differences compared to the draft previously announced and different from the regulations of previous years.
According to Ms. Thuy, these adjustments will not cause difficulties but to create convenience, ensure fairness and rights for candidates. The regulations will be issued in March 2025.
"Students should not be negligent or subjective in studying or reviewing because this year's regulations will stipulate that if schools use high school results for admission, they must use the results of the entire 12th grade year, so studying and reviewing during this period is very important," said Ms. Thuy.
In addition, Ms. Thuy said that this year, the general admission system of the ministry will consider the wishes of candidates at all college levels, instead of just university as in previous years.
All transcript scores, high school graduation exam scores and results of candidates' separate exams are also included in the system and considered for admission in one round, there will no longer be early admission, only direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training for excellent candidates.
