On June 25, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) said that as of 5:00 PM on June 24, there were 3,133 candidates confirming enrollment in specialized schools and schools with integrated English classes in the city.
This number includes students admitted to the High School for the Gifted - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted (area 2), Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (area 3) and high schools that organize integrated English classes. The High School for the Gifted alone recorded 600 candidates who have completed enrollment confirmation.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Phong - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, most candidates confirming admission to specialized schools achieved high results in this year's 10th grade entrance exam. Through virtual filtering, all these candidates simultaneously registered for admission to the general system at many top high schools in the city such as Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School, Le Quy Don High School and many other high-competitive schools.
When candidates confirm enrollment in specialized schools or integrated English classes, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will implement virtual filtering, eliminating the remaining aspirations of candidates in the mass system. This helps release enrollment quotas at public high schools, thereby increasing the chances of admission for candidates waiting for the results of mass grade 10 enrollment throughout the city.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the benchmark scores for grade 10 specialized classes and integrated English classes for the 2026-2027 school year.
Mass grade 10 benchmark scores are expected to be announced on June 30.
This year, Ho Chi Minh City has more than 151,000 candidates taking the 10th grade public school entrance exam. The total enrollment target is about 118,000 students, equivalent to 78% of students taking the exam having places at public schools.
After announcing the benchmark scores, based on the actual number of enrolled students, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will continue to calculate and organize additional admissions for schools that are still short of targets.
The supplementary admission category applies to students who have participated in the 10th grade public school entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year but have not been admitted to the registered aspirations. This is considered another opportunity for candidates who were not admitted in the initial admission round.
