According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, educational institutions proactively build a Lunar New Year holiday schedule in the 2025-2026 school year time plan, ensuring 35 weeks of actual study. The holiday time may vary between localities but must be suitable to the characteristics and practical conditions, and at the same time ensure the implementation of the curriculum according to regulations.
Many localities across the country have officially announced the 2026 Binh Ngo Lunar New Year holiday schedule for students and teachers, ranging from 9 to 14 days, depending on the school year plan and organizational plans of each province and city.
Hanoi students have the lowest Lunar New Year 2026 holiday schedule
Hanoi: Hanoi Department of Education and Training announces that students and teachers will have 5 official days off from February 16-20, 2026, i.e. from December 29 of the year At Ty to January 4 of the year Binh Ngo. Because the days before and after the holiday fall on weekends, the total actual time can last up to 9 consecutive days.
Ho Chi Minh City: Students and teachers at all levels, from preschool to general education and continuing education, will have Tet holiday from February 12, 2026 (December 25th of the lunar calendar) to the end of February 22, 2026 (January 6th of the lunar calendar), a total of 11 official days off according to the decision of the City People's Committee.
Some localities announce extended holiday schedules
In some provinces, the Lunar New Year holiday is longer than the local plan framework.
For example, students in An Giang and Lam Dong have continuous holidays from February 9 to February 22, 2026, equivalent to 14 Tet holidays according to the plan of the Department of Education and Training.
Other localities such as Tay Ninh and Quang Ninh also arrange holidays lasting from 11 to 14 days during this Tet holiday.
Da Nang students are off from February 14-22.2 (December 27 to January 6).
