Many classes no longer have enough books
According to a survey by Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in recent days at some bookstores in Dong Hoi ward, Quang Tri province, it is recorded that many textbooks have run out or are in very small quantities, making it difficult to buy enough sets for students.
On August 21, at a large bookstore on Le Loi street, when reporters asked about 6th grade textbooks, the bookstore staff said that many books such as History and Geography, Technology, and Informatics were no longer available.

For grade 10, the remaining number of books is also very limited. The staff said that at the time of inspection, some specialized Math and Physics books were still in stock, while many other books were sold out.
This time is not enough anymore, I bought it too late" - the bookstore staff said when reporters raised the issue of wanting to buy a full set.

Book shortages also occur in many primary school classes. For grade 1, at the time reporters surveyed, there was only one complete set left. Grade 2 lacked about 4-5 book titles; grade 3 lacked about 8 book titles. For grade 4, staff said that the number of book titles lacking is even higher.
From grade 4 onwards, many sets of books are no longer enough. In grade 11 alone, the number of books at the bookstore is assessed as "relatively" compared to other grades.
According to staff, goods are still continuing to be imported, but the quantity sent back from the publishing house is not large.
Department of Education and Training will inspect the supply
The lack of many book titles in the same set makes parents have to buy them in many places, instead of being able to buy the entire set at one point as usual.
Ms. Thu Thuy (in Dong Hoi ward) whose child is preparing to enter 6th grade said that she has bought books at many points in the area but still does not have enough sets. Some books such as History and Geography, Technology, Informatics are difficult to find because many places are out of stock.

This parent is worried that if books continue to arrive late, their children's preparation for the new school year will be affected, especially when the school start time is approaching.
Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) of Quang Tri province said that right from the time there was a policy to use a set of textbooks, the Department directed schools to coordinate with the publishing unit to ensure the supply of books for students.
According to representatives of the Department of Education and Training, schools are responsible for coordinating with book distributors to grasp needs and organize the supply of textbooks for students.
Regarding the information that some points of sale in Dong Hoi ward are lacking many books, representatives of the Department said that they will re-examine the actual situation, including the level of coordination between schools and publishing units.
