The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) has just announced the decision to recognize the results of admission in the second phase of teacher recruitment in the 2025-2026 school year.
The results showed that 686/4,852 candidates passed the exam, while the recruitment demand is more than 1,400 teachers. Thus, after this supplementary recruitment, Ho Chi Minh City still lacks more than 700 teachers in many subjects.
According to statistics, among the 686 candidates admitted in phase 2, many subjects have very low matriculation rates compared to the demand.
The Fine Arts subject at the secondary school level has a need to recruit 117 teachers but only 3 candidates passed. The Music subject recruited 8 teachers at all 3 levels of education, while the demand is more than 170 people.
Some other subjects also have a large shortage such as History - Geography, which only recruited 6/143 teachers; Head of Team in charge only has 1/81 quota; Literature, which recruited 70/152 teachers...

Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the need to recruit additional teachers for the 2025-2026 school year with more than 1,400 targets.
In which, public non-business units directly under the Department need to recruit 236 teachers for 88 units.
In schools directly under wards, communes and special zones, the recruitment demand is 1,182 teachers for about 500 schools.
According to each level of education, preschools need to add 67 teachers.
At the primary level, the city needs to recruit 145 teachers teaching multiple subjects, 81 team leaders, 68 music teachers, 29 physical education teachers, 33 English teachers and 48 computer science and technology teachers.
Meanwhile, secondary school has a large demand in many subjects such as 143 History - Geography teachers, 117 Fine Arts teachers, 102 Music teachers, 101 Literature teachers, 58 Math teachers, 46 Civic Education teachers, 41 English teachers, 35 Natural Science teachers and 24 Physical Education teachers.
In general, after two recruitment rounds in the 2025-2026 school year, Ho Chi Minh City has recruited 4,594 teachers, of which round 1 recruited 3,908 people.
This year is also the first time Ho Chi Minh City has organized teacher recruitment on a city-wide scale, applied to all levels of education from preschool, primary school, secondary school, high school to continuing education. This is to be consistent with the two-level local government model and changes in administrative boundaries.
Previously, the recruitment of teachers at preschool, primary, secondary and continuing education levels was often assigned to local education and training departments to implement.
