Various Costs at the Beginning of the New School Year
Since early July, female student Tran Anh Thu (from Ca Mau) has packed her bags and returned to Can Tho. Sharing the reason for returning to the city early, Anh Thu said she wanted to find a part-time job to cover the costs at the beginning of the new school year.
“Entering the new school year, my parents have to worry about tuition fees, so I want to find a part-time job to cover the costs of materials, study tools, and living expenses myself. Additionally, I also plan to replace some old items in my rented room. The money for this will be saved from my part-time job,” Anh Thu said.
Similarly, although her parents support her tuition fees, female student Nguyen Bao Ngoc (from Vinh Long) still decided to leave her hometown and return to the city a month early to get back into the rhythm of her part-time job. According to Bao Ngoc, entering the new school year, besides tuition fees, students will have many other expenses to worry about.
“I also wanted to stay in my hometown a bit longer, but that would affect my part-time job in Can Tho. Besides monthly living expenses and books for the new school year, I will have a field trip for my major soon, so I want to return early to work and cover the costs myself, without asking my parents,” Bao Ngoc shared.
Working Two Jobs at Once
The demand for hiring service staff, salespeople, etc., at food and fashion stores in Can Tho is quite bustling, so Anh Thu did not find it difficult to get a part-time job. Taking advantage of the new semester not starting yet, Anh Thu registered to work full-time at a beverage store.
“The class schedule is not out yet, so I have a lot of free time, and I registered to work all three shifts: morning, afternoon, and evening at the store. Although it's tough, the income will be higher, and I get an extra meal. If I maintain this until the official classes start in mid-August, I will have enough money to cover the costs of materials and books. After that, I will adjust my shifts to not affect my studies,” Anh Thu said.
Meanwhile, to earn extra income for the new school year, Bao Ngoc has been trying to work two jobs at once. Besides her previous fixed part-time job, she also registered for a temporary job at a coffee shop.
“In the morning, I work as a salesperson at a clothing store, and in the evening, I serve at a coffee shop. The combined income from both jobs helps me cover the costs at the beginning of the new school year, reducing my dependence on my family. However, the job at the coffee shop is just temporary work, and when the official class schedule is out, I will quit to balance my time for studying,” Bao Ngoc revealed.
