These days, the Phuoc Khanh bridge construction site (connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai) is focusing on asphalt pavement construction. The construction unit is urgently completing the final items to put the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway project into operation in September.
Mr. Hoang Dang Hau, Deputy Commander of the Phuoc Khanh bridge construction site, informed that the contractor is focusing manpower and machinery on constructing the remaining items, focusing on asphalt concrete pavement. According to the plan, if the weather is favorable, asphalt pavement work will be completed on September 21. After that, the construction site will switch to painting road markings, installing traffic signs and traffic safety systems.
At the same time, construction units deploy to complete railings, lighting systems and install cable-stayed shock absorbers. The tasks are carried out in a rolling manner to ensure time.
Overall, the progress of the package has reached more than 96% of the volume. The goal is to complete the entire package in September.
Phuoc Khanh bridge spans the Long Tau River, connecting Binh Khanh commune (HCMC) with Dai Phuoc commune (Dong Nai). The project belongs to package J3-1 invested by Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) - one of the two final packages of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway project, next to package XL-NG51. The bridge has a total length of 3,186 m, a width of nearly 22 m, a scale of 4 lanes, and a design speed of 100 km/h. The technical highlight of the project is the main span 300 m long with a navigation clearance of 55 m, the highest in Vietnam today.
The Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway passes through Tay Ninh (2.7 km), Ho Chi Minh City (26.4 km) and Dong Nai (28.7 km), with a scale of 4 motor vehicle lanes, 2 emergency stop lanes, and a design speed of 100 km/h. To date, the total project output has reached nearly 100%.
After completion, Phuoc Khanh bridge and the remaining items will help the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway connect directly with the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressways and Ring Road 3 of Ho Chi Minh City. The route creates a traffic axis connecting the Mekong Delta region, Ho Chi Minh City, Southeast region and Long Thanh International Airport.
