Hanoi - Many people hope that functional agencies will soon have solutions to thoroughly overcome the flooding situation at the end of Vien street, ensuring safe traffic.

Recorded by Lao Dong Newspaper reporters at 3:00 PM on September 18th in the area where the male student of the University of Mining and Geology had an accident, the water has not yet receded completely.

At this time, many people are still moving slowly through the flooded area. Besides, there are cases where people do not dare to take risks to pass through, for fear of encountering problems.

After 3 pm, Nguyen Lam Chi (2nd year student, Academy of Finance) moved from school to her classmate's house in Thuong Cat ward, nearly 2km from school.

However, when reaching the end of Vien street (Dong Ngac ward, adjacent to Thuong Cat ward), Lam Chi stopped, not daring to move through the flooded point.

This section is bumpy, with many potholes and even flooded, if you are not familiar with the road, it will be very dangerous" - she said.

This is the nearest road for Lam Chi to your house. Another route is the West bank of the Nhue River - Pham Van Nghi, but about 4km further.

Hesitating for a long time, Lam Chi decided to turn back to her house in Ha Dong, instead of going to a friend's house as initially planned.

I will return when the water recedes completely to ensure safety" - Lam Chi said and hoped that the flooding situation would be resolved soon.

Besides Lam Chi, many other people also did not dare to move through the flooded area, choosing alternative routes.

Living for 16 years in Thuong Cat ward, Mr. Nguyen Thuyet (78 years old) said that he has witnessed flooding in the area at the end of Vien street countless times.

It floods every time it rains heavily. Meanwhile, this is a road section where local people and students from some neighboring universities travel very crowded every day" - Mr. Thuyet said.

However, the transport project connecting this area to Tay Thang Long road has been implemented for many years but is still unfinished.

The roads are not flat, many manholes around make people extremely uneasy every time they move through flooded rainy days.

The project has been implemented for decades but has not been seen anywhere, it is extremely wasteful" - Mr. Thuyet said.

Recalling the painful incident related to a freshman of the University of Mining and Geology being swept away by water in this area, Mr. Thuyet requested functional agencies to review the progress, remove difficulties and obstacles to restart the project.

In case construction cannot resume, it is necessary to have solutions to upgrade and repair to make roads convenient. At the same time, it is necessary to thoroughly overcome the flooding situation, ensuring safety for people every rainy and flood season.

As Lao Dong newspaper reported, at noon on September 18, functional forces found the body of a male student of the University of Mining and Geology swept away by water. The victim was found at the discharge gate in the Nhue River (Pho Vien bridge area).

Previously, at about 10 am on September 17, people discovered a Honda Wave motorbike with license plate 18F5-55xx falling in the area near the drainage culvert at the end of Vien street, but did not see the vehicle driver.

Through review, it was determined that the motorbike was in the name of Mr. N.D. S (born in 1976, residing in My Loc, Ninh Binh).

The family gave Mr. S's son, Mr. N.D. S, to use as a means of transportation. Mr. S is a first-year student at the University of Mining and Geology, Hanoi.
