On December 14, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway project, the section passing through Binh Phuoc province, took place.
Attending the groundbreaking ceremony were former President Nguyen Minh Triet, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, representatives of central ministries and agencies and leaders of Binh Duong and Binh Phuoc provinces.
The Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh Expressway, the section through Binh Phuoc province, is invested by the Binh Phuoc Construction Investment Management Board. The project section through Binh Phuoc province is approximately 7km long, with a design speed of 100 to 120 km/h, and a total investment of VND 1,474 billion. The implementation period is 2024-2026.
Upon completion, the project will combine with the North-South Expressway in the West, Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) - Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc) section, to create traffic axes connecting the Central Highlands and the Southeast. This will shorten travel time, transportation costs and ensure traffic safety.
It is known that the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway project has a total length of 55 km. The starting point intersects with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 and the end point connects with Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressway.
The 2km access road to the expressway will be implemented by Ho Chi Minh City. The total investment for this project is about 2,000 billion VND. Currently, Ho Chi Minh City has assigned departments and branches to prepare to arrange investment capital.
The majority of this expressway passes through Binh Duong province, with a length of 45.7 km. The People's Council of Binh Duong province has approved a resolution to invest in the project with a total capital of about 17,400 billion VND under the PPP investment method of BOT contract. It is expected that the section passing through Binh Duong province will start in the first quarter of 2025.
