World oil prices today
World gasoline and oil prices continue to record notable fluctuations. At the end of yesterday's trading session (July 15), WTI and Brent oil prices increased by 0.33% and 0.26% respectively.
By this morning's session, the two oil commodities fluctuated in opposite directions. At 8:05 am (Vietnam time), WTI oil price was at 80.13 USD/barrel, up 0.53 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.67%. WTI oil price closed the previous trading session at 79.60 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 80 USD/barrel.
Brent oil price was at 85.39 USD/barrel, down 0.24 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.28%. Brent oil price ended the previous trading session at 85.62 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 85.60 USD/barrel.
World oil prices continued to increase slightly in the trading session on July 15, as the market reacted to information that US crude oil reserves continued to decrease. However, the increase was quite limited as investors remained cautious in the face of new military developments between the US and Iran in the Middle East region.
Regarding supply, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), the country's crude oil inventories in the past week decreased by 1.7 million barrels. This decrease is lower than analysts' forecast of 2.6 million barrels, showing that oil supply has not declined as strongly as market expectations.
In addition, EIA also said that the inventory of distilled products increased by 4.6 million barrels, much higher than the forecast increase of about 100,000 barrels. This development shows that the supply of oil products is still relatively abundant, thereby reducing concerns about the risk of short-term energy supply shortages.
In general, data from the EIA shows that oil supply in the US has not shown signs of significant tightening. This has partly compensated for the impact of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, causing oil prices to only increase modestly.
