World gasoline and oil prices are on a strong downward trend. At the end of yesterday's trading session (June 22), WTI and Brent oil prices decreased by 2.32% and 3.31% respectively.
By this morning's session, both oil items continued to decrease. At 9:00 AM, Vietnam time, WTI oil price was at 73.85 USD/barrel, down 0.01 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.01%. According to analysts, oil prices fell sharply after the US said negotiations with Iran made progress, while transportation through the Strait of Hormuz continued normally.
According to intermediaries, senior US and Iranian officials have concluded the first round of negotiations in Switzerland. The contacts were launched based on a memorandum of understanding previously reached, aimed at extending the ceasefire agreement established in April by at least 60 days.
On the same day, the US announced allowing Iran to resume oil exports. According to the license issued by the US Treasury Department, Iran is allowed to sell crude oil, petrochemical products and fuels originating from this country until August 21.
Regarding supply, Iran's return to the market is contributing to reducing global shortage pressure. Iran's exports have been restored after a period of disruption by the US naval blockade in early June.
Ship tracking data also shows that two oil tankers with a total volume of nearly 2 million barrels passed through the Strait of Hormuz on June 22, showing that the volume of transportation through this maritime route is gradually recovering after a sharp decrease previously due to security concerns.
Not only Iran, major oil producing countries in the region such as the UAE, Kuwait and Iraq have also increased the amount of oil offered to customers last week.
