Khanh Hoa - Locality promoting solutions to increase the use of rooftop solar power, contributing to saving electricity, reducing supply pressure and developing green energy.

On June 28, information from Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee said that, implementing Directive No. 10/CT-TTg dated March 30, 2026 of the Prime Minister on strengthening the implementation of electricity saving and developing rooftop solar power in 2026, the locality focuses on synchronously deploying solutions to use electricity economically and efficiently.

According to the proposed plan, Khanh Hoa will develop distributed power sources, increase local energy self-sufficiency, especially rooftop solar power in the direction of self-production and self-consumment.

The goal set for 2026 is to save at least 3% of the total electricity consumption of the whole province. Especially in the peak hot months of June and July, the province strives to save at least 10% of electricity consumption, contributing to reducing the risk of power supply and demand imbalance in the dry season.

The province also implements programs to manage electricity demand, load shift, and load adjustment to reduce consumption capacity during peak hours.

Encouraging people and businesses to self-produce electricity.
In developing rooftop solar power, Khanh Hoa prioritizes deploying it in public offices, production, business, service and household facilities.

The annual target is that about 10% of public offices and 10% of households install and use rooftop solar power systems that self-produce, self-consume or develop a capacity equivalent to 20% of the installed rooftop solar power capacity in the 2026 - 2030 plan.

The province also encourages the combination of energy storage systems to reduce peak hour load and improve on-site power supply capacity.

For administrative agencies and non-business units, the province requires building annual electricity saving plans; limiting the use of high-capacity equipment during peak hours; adjusting air conditioning temperatures not lower than 26°C; gradually replacing low-efficiency equipment with energy-saving equipment.

In the field of public lighting, localities are required to review and adjust operating hours reasonably, apply automatic control technology, smart lighting, and strive to save at least 30% of electricity consumption.

In the period 2026 - 2030, Khanh Hoa aims to maintain an average energy industry growth rate of 20%/year. The total power capacity put into operation by 2030 is expected to reach about 14,000 MW, including concentrated solar power, onshore wind power, LNG gas power, rechargeable hydropower and other power sources.

Currently, Khanh Hoa is operating and implementing 72 energy projects. Among them, 44 solar power projects with a capacity of more than 2,950 MW, 11 wind power projects with a capacity of 667.25 MW, 14 hydropower projects with a capacity of 401.5 MW and thermal power and biomass projects.
