According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in the first 7 months of 2025 of the City reached 1.07 million billion VND, up 15.5% over the same period, of which retail sales of goods reached 554,749 billion VND, up 14.8%; this is a very positive result, the highest in many recent years.
However, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung - Deputy Head of the Trade Management Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade said that in order to meet the requirements and contribute more to the city's GRDP growth target; consumer stimulus activities need to be implemented more drastically, more practically and with higher frequency. From now until the end of 2025, the Department of Industry and Trade will continue to prioritize focusing on 4 groups of solutions.
First, encourage consumers to increase spending and shopping. The Shopping Season Concentrated Promotion Program continues to be implemented until September 15 and the second phase will be implemented from November 15 to December 31, 2025; allowing businesses to apply many explosive promotional programs, with deeper discounts than normal regulations.
Second, to attract consumers to shopping malls, the Citysale event series is deployed in a series of stages. In particular, in the first phase, the Program was held at Parc Mall from August 14-24. From September 28 to July 7, the brand exploded throughout the National Day Ceremony at Ben Thanh Metro Station, Vincom Mega Mall Thao Dien, Diamond Plaza and SC VivoCity.
With 500 prestigious brands, many international brands, genuine distributors, attractive promotions up to 80%, notably Gucci, Burberry, Boss, Polo, Whoo, Ohui, Sum, CNP, Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, Fila, Puma... Citysale expects to attract 30-50% more visitors to shopping malls for sightseeing and shopping.
The presence of famous domestic and international brands promises to bring consumers a vibrant, diverse and quality shopping season, thereby enhancing Ho Chi Minh City's position on the international shopping map.
Third, it helps consumers feel secure when shopping through the "Responsible Green ticket" program and strengthens measures to inspect, control the market, prevent counterfeit, fake and poor quality goods.
Fourth, support consumers with more shopping conditions, mobile sales programs aimed at workers and laborers are deployed right at accommodation areas and enterprises with many workers. The program is accompanied by many prestigious brands, major distribution systems, strong credit institutions... focusing on reducing prices of essential goods, increasing discounts, providing consumer credit...
In parallel with promotional activities, the Department of Industry and Trade has strengthened coordination with banks and payment intermediaries to implement many solutions to promote cashless payments, aiming to form modern, safe and convenient payment habits for people and tourists.
