Continue to improve environmental criteria and green projects
Speaking at the opening of the event, Mr. Le Cong Thanh - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment - assessed that the "Green Transformation Day 2026" event is not only a meaningful communication activity, but also a practical forum for management agencies, the business community, experts, and scientists to exchange and share initiatives, remove obstacles to jointly spread the spirit of action for a green Vietnam, rapid and sustainable development.
According to Deputy Minister Le Cong Thanh, the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress has clearly defined the requirements for building a new growth model, based on science, technology, innovation, digital transformation and green transformation; promoting the digital economy, green economy, circular economy and energy transformation. This is a strategic orientation, reflecting the country's long-term development vision in the new context.
To accelerate green transformation in the spirit of the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment respectfully requests ministries, branches, localities, businesses, and people to focus on implementing a number of key tasks below.
First, making green transformation one of the central driving forces of the new growth model.
Second, unlock resources for green transformation. Green transformation requires very large resources. Therefore, green credit, green bonds, sustainable finance, carbon markets and other environmental economic tools play a particularly important role.
I strongly agree with the framework of the series of events, Lao Dong Newspaper plans to organize forums on sustainable energy, green credit and policy talks. These are very practical contents, because to successfully transform green, there must be green capital flows, mechanisms to encourage green transformation and clear green criteria" - Deputy Minister Thanh emphasized.
Deputy Minister Le Cong Thanh also informed that the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will continue to improve the criteria for environment, green projects, and projects that meet the criteria of circular economy; promote transparency of green capital flows, green production and consumption, prevent the situation of "formal greening", and create conditions for businesses that are substantive, responsible, and innovative to have more favorable access to sustainable financial resources.
Third, turn green transformation into action of the whole society. The State plays the role of creating institutions, orienting policies, building criteria, standards and creating a favorable and equal environment. Businesses are the central force in innovating production and business models. People are important subjects in changing consumption behavior, using energy economically, reducing plastic waste, and choosing environmentally friendly products and vehicles.
Green transformation must be concretized by action
At the 2026 Green Transformation Day event, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang - Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade) - assessed that the theme "Green Transformation - Driving Force for Vietnam's New Growth Model" of the event has sent a very clear message: Green transformation is no longer a separate story of the environment, but has become a direct requirement for economic development, production, consumption and competitiveness of the economy.
In the past time, the Party and State have issued many important guidelines and policies on green growth, circular economy, energy saving and efficiency, sustainable production and consumption.
Most recently, in the field of energy saving and efficiency, the Prime Minister issued Directive No. 09/CT-TTg dated March 19, 2026, thereby setting out specific requirements for strengthening energy saving, promoting energy transition and developing electric vehicles.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang, the green transition process needs to be implemented synchronously, from businesses innovating and applying new technologies to increase energy efficiency; from the market having more new and greener products and services and from each citizen's daily choices in consumption, travel, and living.
I highly appreciate the way the event is organized at Cau Giay Park, associated with exhibitions, electric vehicle experiences and activities to encourage the transition to green transportation. This is an intuitive, close-to-people approach, helping people to see, experience and directly exchange about the changes taking place in life. The program being designed into a series of activities with forums on energy transition, biofuels, green credit and green growth models also creates more real exchange space between management agencies, experts, businesses and the press" - Ms. Giang assessed.
Director Nguyen Thi Lam Giang also expects that the business community will continue to pay more attention to investing in green technology, using energy efficiently, and developing more environmentally friendly products and services.

Each action to save energy, choose cleaner fuels, and greener vehicles today will contribute to creating a green foundation for us and future generations" - Ms. Lam Giang said.
People enthusiastically participate in the "gasoline to electricity exchange" activity
Mr. Pham Viet Trung - Deputy Managing Director of HBM Vietnam Joint Stock Company, representative of Thu Anh VinFast - said: Green Transformation Day 2026 has a great spread, attracting many people to participate in the "gasoline to electricity exchange" activity. By 6 pm, when the program ended and the store was cleaning up, many people still came to find out information.
Participating in the program, Mr. Pham Quoc Vinh - 73 years old, in Cau Giay ward, Hanoi - said that his family is using a Dream gasoline motorbike and intends to change cars. "The day before, I asked to sell an old car for 12 million VND. After test driving an electric car at the program of Lao Dong Newspaper, I decided to order an electric car to replace the old car" - Mr. Vinh said.
Expecting the event to continue to be held annually, expanding its scale
Dr. Nguyen Xuan Quang - Institute of Energy Technology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology - said that Green Transformation Day 2026 is not only a communication event but also creates a positive social effect, contributing to raising people's awareness of sustainable development and the use of clean energy.
According to Dr. Quang, the fact that a large number of people are interested in and directly experience electric vehicles and participate in changing gasoline cars to electric vehicles shows that the need for green transformation is increasingly clear. The event has created a bridge between businesses, experts and people, helping green solutions get closer to life.
He expects Green Transformation Day to be held annually with expanded scale. When experiential activities, green technology consulting and support policies are maintained, people will have more motivation to change their consumption habits and choose environmentally friendly vehicles.
