According to the Department of Planning and Investment of Quang Ninh province, currently, the total foreign direct investment (FDI) capital in the supporting sector of the automobile industry in Quang Ninh has reached more than 384 million USD.
In particular, the project of Autoliv Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Sweden) in Song Khoai Industrial Park, Quang Yen town has an investment capital of 154 million USD, producing safety products for cars and other motor vehicles for export.
Also in Song Khoai Industrial Park, there is a project of Samsong Vina Co., Ltd. (Korea), with an investment capital of nearly 10.3 million USD, producing seat belts used in the automobile industry and producing steel locking pins for seat belts.
Bac Tien Phong Industrial Park, Quang Yen town also attracted 2 supporting projects in the automobile industry. Of which, the project of Boltun Vietnam (Taiwan, China) specializes in manufacturing pins and stamping products, with a total investment of 165 million USD, a total designed capacity of 60,000 tons of products/year. The remaining project is the Intelligent Light Alloy Wheel Rim Manufacturing Factory of Xiamen Sunrise Group Co., Ltd., with an investment of 55 million USD, specializing in manufacturing rims for cars, with a designed capacity of 2.5 million products/year.
Recently, a delegation of Mitsubishi Corporation leaders also came to Quang Ninh to research and explore investment in a number of fields such as information technology, energy, especially supporting factories for the automobile and motorbike manufacturing industry...
Meanwhile, Quang Ninh's first automobile factory is also expected to officially come into operation at the end of this year and supply the first products to the market in early 2025.
That is Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory, specializing in manufacturing and assembling Škoda brand cars - the largest car brand in the Czech Republic - built on an area of 36.5 hectares, located in Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile and Supporting Industry Complex, with a total scale of 400 hectares, with a total capital of 8,679 billion VND in Viet Hung Industrial Park, Ha Long City.
The factory has a capacity of 120,000 vehicles/year. According to the plan, in the first phase of operation, the factory will assemble SUV and B-class Sedan segments suitable for the current tastes and consumption trends of Vietnamese people. The next phase will expand to environmentally friendly electric vehicles.
