Previously, after receiving information from tourists regarding the food invoices at Thu Huong restaurant, on July 4, the People's Committee of Bai Chay Ward, Quang Ninh Province directed an inspection and clarification.
Through on-site inspection, the restaurant had complete legal documents but the price list was unclear, causing confusion for customers.
The People's Committee of the ward issued Decision No. 24/QD-UBND, dated July 4, 2025, to administratively fine Mr. Pham Van Thang - restaurant owner 750,000 VND; at the same time, requesting to stop the violation, ensure business activities in accordance with regulations, contributing to building a civilized tourism environment.
Previously, Ms. Ha (residing in Song Lo, Phu Tho) reported her dissatisfaction with a restaurant in the culinary district of Bai Chay ward, Quang Ninh province. According to Ms. Ha, at noon on June 25, 2025, her family (4 adults, 1 8-month-old child) took a taxi and asked the driver to take them to a "slightly delicious" noodle shop.
The driver took him to Thu Huong restaurant ( Bai Chay ward). Here, the staff took her menu away without quoting the price. The family ordered 3 bowls of seafood noodles, 1 portion of banh cuon, 1 bowl of congee for the baby and fruit juice.
When paying, Ms. Ha was surprised when the bill was up to 810,000 VND, of which: seafood noodles, rolls and congee were all 150,000 VND/serving, juice was 60,000 VND/ cup.
Recently, in Bai Chay - one of the major tourist centers of Quang Ninh province - similar incidents have occasionally occurred, related to food prices at restaurants and eateries. In particular, after returning from a trip, tourists posted online complaints about their dissatisfaction with the high price as well as the service style.
