On 4.5, in Vinh City, the Ministry of Public Security coordinated with the People's Committee of Nghe An province to organize the tournament "Journey to follow Uncle Ho - for national security". The event was a key activity within the framework of the Sen Village Festival in 2025, towards the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (19.5.1890 - 19.5.2025) and 80 years of establishment of the People's Public Security Forces (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025).
From 4am, more than 2,000 professional and amateur athletes from many provinces and cities gathered at Ho Chi Minh Square - the starting and finishing point of the race. The three competition distances include 5km, 10km and 21km half marathon stretching across main roads such as Truong Thi, Le Nin and Vinh - Cua Lo Boulevard.
Before the race, the flower offering ceremony - incense offering in front of the monument of President Ho Chi Minh was solemnly held, expressing gratitude to the great leader who sacrificed his entire life for the revolutionary cause and for the happiness of the people.
The race has the participation of many familiar names in the grassroots running industry such as Le Van Huong, Lo Van Hong, Dao Duy Thach, Hoang Thi Ngoc Anh and Doan Thi Oanh. The efforts of acceleration and radiant images when reaching the finish line made many audiences emotional and proud.
In the 21km half-marathon event, athlete Le Van Huong won the most convincingly. The distances of 10km and 5km respectively witnessed the brilliance of Le Van Thao and Bui Thanh Duong.
The cheering atmosphere along the competition route is also a special highlight. Vinh City residents, from the elderly to the children, poured into the streets waving their hands and encouraging each athlete's foot.
An elderly female audience member emotionally shared: running is not only a sporting event but also an opportunity for everyone to remember Uncle Ho, his noble ideals.
The race is not simply a grassroots sports race but a cultural - political activity of profound significance.
The organization of the tournament is associated with the major milestones of the country, especially the Sen Village Festival - the Festival of honoring Uncle Ho - showing the effort to deepen the value of the spiritual heritage that President Ho Chi Minh left, and affirmed the role of example and preserving the tradition in the People's Public Security Forces.
