In practice, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, on the morning of August 28, the opening ceremony of the Ho Chi Minh City Summer Sports Festival (area 2) in 2025, took place in Binh Duong ward. The event took place in a vibrant, colorful and sportsful atmosphere, an opportunity for students to exchange and compete before the new school year.

This year's sports festival brings together 502 athletes from 69 clubs of primary, secondary, high schools and general education institutions in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Binh Duong area). They will compete in 5 sports including taekwondo, vovinam, Tan Khanh Ba Tra martial arts, swimming and basketball. Notably, vovinam and Tan Khanh Ba Tra are both traditional martial arts that have been recognized as national intangible cultural heritages, expressing the pride and identity of Vietnamese sports.
Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hiep - Vice President of the Vietnam vovinam Federation, President of the Ho Chi Minh City vovinam Federation; Mr. Cao Van Chong - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, Head of the Sports Festival Organizing Committee; along with representatives of departments, branches, sports federations and a large number of coaches and athletes.


On behalf of the organizing committee, Mr. Cao Van Chong presented souvenir flags to participating units, expressing his hope that the sports festival will become a useful playground, spreading the spirit of sports in the community.
Right after the opening ceremony, the matches took place excitingly at the multi-purpose gymnasium, attracting the enthusiastic cheers of the audience. The swimming competition was held separately at Community Swimming pool 1 on the morning of August 29.


The Ho Chi Minh City Summer Sports Festival is an annual activity, contributing to creating a physical training environment, improving spiritual life, and at the same time discovering and nurturing sports talents. This is also an opportunity to concretize the movement "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" in the period of 2021-2030, thereby building an active and healthy lifestyle in the community.
