On the evening of April 8, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province coordinated with the Department of Physical Education and Sports of Vietnam to organize the opening ceremony of the "2025 National Sambo Club Championship" in Vung Tau City.
Sambo is a martial art developed based on the crystallization and foundation of traditional performing arts of ethnic groups in the Russian Federation. At the same time, it has constantly developed and inherited the selection of quintessence of other martial arts. This martial art optimizes techniques and training capabilities to be able to apply to personal self-defense needs, for police forces, soldiers, special forces...
This year is the second time the tournament has been held, scheduled to take place from April 8 11.4, attracting 135 athletes (75 men's and 60 women's) from 14 provinces, cities and sectors to participate. Athletes will compete in individual competitions in Sport Sambo (equivalent to Judo) and Combat Sambo (opposite competition) in the weight categories: under 58 kg to over 98 kg for men; under 50 kg to over 80 kg for women.
According to the Organizing Committee, the 2025 National Sambo Club Championship is an opportunity for athletes to compete and improve their professional qualifications, thereby selecting excellent athletes to supplement the national Sambo team and participate in major tournaments.
At the same time, this year's tournament held outdoors in public areas is also a driving force to promote the development of a widespread movement of practicing and competing in Sambo, aiming to make Sambo a popular and beloved sport nationwide.
