According to the plan approved by the Government, officials, civil servants and public employees will have a total of 9 consecutive days of Tet Nguyen Dan holiday.
The holiday starts from Saturday, February 14, 2026 (ie, December 27 of the year At Ty) and lasts until Sunday, February 22, 2026 (ie, January 6 of the year Binh Ngo).
Notably, because this year's holiday schedule falls entirely into 5 Tet holidays according to regulations and 4 consecutive weekends combined, agencies and units will not need to exchange working days or arrange compensatory leave.
For the non-state sector, employers have the right to decide their own holiday schedule based on the actual conditions of the unit, but must ensure notification to employees at least 30 days before implementation.
This is the second time in recent years that the Lunar New Year holiday has been extended to 9 consecutive days.
Another interesting point of Binh Ngo Tet 2026 is that the first day off (February 14) coincides with Valentine's Day. This coincidence brings opportunities for couples as well as many families to arrange time to enjoy spring, travel and organize reunion activities at the beginning of the year.
Lunar New Year is a time of cultural convergence for Vietnamese people, associated with rituals, visits, worship and spring travel. Many localities such as Hanoi, Quang Ninh or Da Nang have prepared cultural and festival activities to serve people and tourists throughout this period.
