Vietnam U14 men's tennis team wins international tournament at home

The Vietnam U14 tennis team won the ITF Team Championships for Boys U14 - Pre Qualifying 2026, held at Novaworld Phan Thiet court cluster, Lam Dong province.

The tournament is part of the ITF World Junior Tennis Competition system and is organized by the Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF), the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and NovaSports from March 9 to 14.

This year's tournament has the participation of more than 80 players from 14 national and regional teams, including: Cambodia, Guam, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Macau (China), Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan and host Vietnam. This is an important playground in the ITF youth competition system, aimed at discovering and developing leading young tennis talents in the region.

After a week of competition, the Vietnam U14 men's team played excellently and defeated the Uzbekistan team with a score of 2-0 in the final, thereby winning the championship of the tournament.

This impressive achievement continues to affirm the strong progress of promising young players of Vietnamese tennis, including Le Phu Gia, Nguyen Khac Nguyen (both from the Ho Chi Minh City team), Vu Tuan Phong (Hanoi), under the guidance of coach Dang Ngoc Vinh (Ho Chi Minh City).

In the end, Vietnam won the championship and Uzbekistan won the runner-up title. The two best teams of the tournament will win the right to participate in the Final Qualifying round of ITF World Junior Tennis Asia/Oceania Final Qualifying 2026, expected to take place from April 21 to May 3 in Kuching, Malaysia.

The achievement at this tournament is a proud milestone for Vietnamese youth tennis, and at the same time opens up opportunities for U14 players to continue to rub shoulders, accumulate experience and affirm the position of Vietnamese tennis in the international arena.

Previously, the Vietnamese U14 women's team successfully competed at the ITF Team Championships for Girls U14 2026, taking place from March 2 to 7. also at NovaWorld Phan Thiet stadium complex, Lam Dong province. The team won a ticket to continue with the Uzbekistan women's team.

In 2026, the Vietnam Tennis Federation will continue to promote the organization of international and national tournament systems at many levels, aiming to build a professional competition environment, creating a source of quality young athletes for national teams in the future.
