This is a tournament taking place at NovaWorld Phan Thiet tennis court complex co-organized by the Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF) in coordination with the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and NovaSports, from March 2 to 7.
In a week of competition, the tournament gathered nearly 80 outstanding U14 female athletes from 18 Asian/Ocean regional teams including: Pakistan, Lebanon, Cambodia, Singapore, Brunei, Nepal, Maldives, Mongolia, Philippines, Myanmar, Pacific Oceania, Macau (China), Kuwait, Guam, Laos, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and host Vietnam.
This is an important playground in the ITF youth competition system, creating opportunities for young players in the region to rub shoulders, accumulate experience and aim for higher levels of competition.
After a week of exciting competition with many dramatic matches and high professional quality, the U14 Uzbekistan women's team excellently achieved first place and the U14 Vietnam women's team second place.
The two teams have won the right to participate in the Final Qualifying round of the ITF world Junior Tennis Competition in Malaysia soon. This is another step on the journey to compete for a spot to participate in the ITF World Junior Tennis Aisa/Oceania Final tournament.
Final Qualifying event, taking place from April 21 to May 3 in Kuching, Malaysia.
In the final match, the Vietnam U14 women's team played with full effort and determination when facing Uzbekistan - one of the strong teams in the region. Despite playing with a resilient spirit, the home players still had to accept defeat with a score of 0–2. In the 1st singles match, Khusanova Margarita defeated Nguyen Linh Nhi with a score of 6–4, 6–2. While in the 2nd Singles match, Nizamieva Zlata defeated To Binh Nhien with a score of 6–1, 6–3.
The Vietnam U14 women's team has shown maturity and clear development potential at this year's tournament. The squad includes promising young faces such as To Binh Nhien (Ninh Binh), Nguyen Linh Nhi (HCMC) and Mai Khanh Chi (Ninh Binh) who played with full effort, showing the spirit of solidarity and aspiration to rise up of Vietnamese youth tennis.
The successful hosting of the tournament continues to affirm the capacity of the Vietnam Tennis Federation to organize international tennis events, and at the same time contributes to promoting the image of Vietnamese sports, tourism and destinations to international friends. Close coordination between VTF, ITF and NovaSports also shows common efforts in developing youth tennis and promoting international sports activities in Vietnam.
After the women's team tournament, the ITF Team Championships for Boys U14 men's team tournament will continue from March 9-14 at Novaworld Phan Thiet tennis court complex, Lam Dong province.
