At the Congress, Mr. Do Viet Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam E-Sports and Entertainment Association (VIRESA), was elected by 30 official members of AESF to the position of Vice President of the Southeast Asian region for the 2025-2029 term, with 24 votes in favor, the highest among the candidates from five continental regions.
Ms. Cao Thu Phuong, VIRESA Secretary General, said: The fact that Mr. Do Viet Hung received the highest number of votes is not only a source of pride for Vietnamese e-sports but also shows the international community's appreciation for Vietnam's leadership capacity, vision and persistent contributions in this field. This is an opportunity for us to continue to contribute more deeply to the overall development of regional and global e-sports.

For the domestic sports industry, this is a golden opportunity to strengthen international cooperation, promote investment attraction, learn about governance experiences and build a more systematic and professional sports ecosystem. Not only a technical platform or tournament, having a representative at AESF helps Vietnam become a prestigious destination in events, exchange programs, conferences and general development projects of the whole region, contributing to improving the professional quality as well as the position of athletes, coaches and units in the country's e-sports ecosystem.
Playing a leading role at the continental level is a testament to the rise of Vietnamese Esports, and also a solid step forward demonstrating the ability to bring Vietnam to the world through the digital content industry, one of the most rapidly developing industries globally today.
Also within the framework of the Congress, Mr. Santi Lothong (Chairman of the Thai E-Sports Federation) was elected as Chairman of AESF for the 2025-2029 term. The Vice Chairmen representing the remaining regions include:
• East Asia: Mr. Youngman Kim (Korea)
• Central Asia: Mr. Doniyorkhon Djuraev (Uzbekistan)
• South Asia: Mr. Lokesh Suji (India)
• West Asia: Mr. Saeed Sharaf (Syria).
VIRESA affirmed that this success will be an important foundation for Vietnam to strengthen its role in international activities, pioneering in promoting the strong development of the e-sports ecosystem, opening up great opportunities for Vietnamese businesses and the e-sports community. Thereby, continuing to enhance the national position in the rapidly growing digital content industry globally.
