Potential sports of the country's sports industry
Since being included in the official competition program of the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), Esports has contributed to the glory of Vietnamese sports.
At the 31st and 32nd SEA Games, Vietnamese Esports won a total of 14 medals, including 9 medals (3 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 3 bronze medals) from competitions including Vietnam Open (LMHT), PUBG Mobile, Vietnam Open: Toc Chien and VALORANT.
Notably, at the 2022 Asian Games (ASIAD 19), the Vietnamese Esports team also achieved a Top 4 continental finish in the LMHT competition.
Esports is showing great development potential, when strongly socialized, with the cooperation of many large technology enterprises.
In 2024, the size of the e-entertainment market in Southeast Asia is estimated to reach 14.8 billion USD, expected to reach 14.93 billion USD in 2029. The compound annual growth rate for the period 2024 - 2029 reached 0.19%.
The number of people participating in e-entertainment in Vietnam currently reaches about 28.2 million people, accounting for 28.7% of the population. Of which, the number of Esports followers in Vietnam also recorded more than 10 million people.
A golden opportunity for Vietnamese Esports
In 2024, some Vietnamese Esports teams such as: GAM Esports (Vietnam Ministry of Sports) or D' Xavier ( PUBG Mobile Ministry) have made many impressions in the international arena.

The recognition of society for Esports is also clearly demonstrated when many professional Esports tournaments have begun to be broadcast on television and digital platforms, making this sport popular and easily accessible to a wide audience.
At the recent " Glory of Vietnam Sports" event, the leader of the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports emphasized that Esports has had strong development, with great potential to move towards higher-level and more classy events.
The International Olympic Committee has gradually recognized Esports as one of the official competitive sports. Therefore, the Department of Physical Education and Sports hopes that Vietnamese Esports athletes will seize this opportunity well to be able to plan better training, competition and conquer the highest achievements for the country's sports.

Mr. Do Viet Hung - Chairman of the Vietnam E-Sports and Entertainment Association (VIRESA) - shared: Vietnamese e-sports are in a fast rhythm with the world, with many opportunities to accelerate and make breakthroughs. Through 3 SEA Games, Vietnamese Esports has received consensus from society and state agencies. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) also officially announced Saudi Arabia's cooperation in organizing the Esports Olympic in 2027. This shows that E-Sports is standing on the threshold of history.
