On August 29, the Department of Education and Training (DET) of Can Tho City held a Conference to summarize the 2024-2025 school year and deploy tasks for the 2025-2026 school year for primary education.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Can Tho city's primary schools have 488 schools, with 484 public schools and 4 non-public schools. In addition, there are 27 inter-level schools with primary schools, 1 Center for Supporting the Development of Inclusive Education, 1 School for Teaching Children with Disabilities and 1 School for Nursing Children with Disabilities.
In the past school year, educational institutions in the area have done a good job of advising local Party committees and authorities in implementing the 2018 General Education Program (GDPT).
The planning of the network of primary schools has been reasonably rearranged, in accordance with administrative boundaries and residential areas, facilitating students to go to school easily, accessing a learning environment that ensures facilities to serve teaching and learning needs.
The quality of the teaching staff and educational managers has been increasingly improved, meeting the requirements of management, educational innovation and implementation of the 2018 General Education Program. The work of innovating education management has been promoted, with many positive changes; the capacity to direct and manage the work of school management staff, especially Principals, has been gradually improved.

The application of information technology in education operations, management and the application of artificial intelligence AI to serve innovation in teaching and learning methods has had significant changes, creating conditions to improve the quality of education, contributing to promoting digital transformation plans in education.
STEM education activities, piloting digital citizen skills education according to the orientation of the 2018 GDPT Program in primary schools are effectively implemented, in accordance with local conditions and the ability of educational institutions to meet.
Notably, the quality of mass education continues to be improved. Of which, students who have completed the school year program account for 98.83%. The movement of educational students has achieved high results.
With the achieved results, in the new school year, the city's education sector has set the task of continuing to effectively implement the Primary School GDPT Program; strengthening school safety; effectively implementing decentralization of management associated with accountability in organizing the implementation of the school year plan according to regulations and in accordance with local and unit practices.
