The workshop took place on December 16, organized by Hanoi Open University.
In the opening development, Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Thang Long - Vice Principal of Hanoi Open University - said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science have quickly become the founding pillars of the digital ecosystem.
"AI is increasingly integrated into education, healthcare, environmental monitoring, smart infrastructure and digital governance. However, as AI is increasingly closely associated with daily life, the question is not only how powerful these technologies can be, but also how sustainable the digital future they create will be" - Mr. Long raised the issue.
The Vice Principal of Hanoi Open University believes that a sustainable digital future depends on resilience, reliability and adaptability of digital systems over time, as well as public trust, institutional capacity and responsible governance.
From a research perspective, this requires attention to issues such as data quality and governance, transparency and explainability of the model, the solidity and security of AI systems, as well as the long-term maintenance of digital infrastructure. At the same time, it is necessary to better understand the wide-ranging impacts of AI on skills, employment, the education system and social inclusion...
Presenting the paper "AI for a sustainable digital future: Architecture, governance and industrial transformation for Vietnam", Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tuyen - former Deputy Director of the Department of Information Technology Industry, Ministry of Science and Technology - said that AI is transforming all fields, becoming a fundamental driving force for innovation, growth and national competitiveness.
Mr. Tuyen cited that in production, AI supports maintenance of prediction, digital copy, quality control and supply chain optimization. In agriculture, AI, IoT, drones and blockchain are promoting smart farming, traceability and climate change adaptation. In healthcare and the public sector, AI contributes to improving service quality, transparency of governance and increasing system efficiency...
Along with the opportunity, AI also poses many risks such as job loss, privacy violations, algorithmic prejudices, AI hallucinations and cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
Experts say that in that context, "trust is the foundation of all digital systems" and this can only be achieved through clear standards and accountability mechanisms, in accordance with international frameworks, while adapting to Vietnam's conditions.
The conference received more than 50 articles from domestic and international researchers, covering both the foundational and application aspects of AI and data science, including technical innovations, data-based solutions, governance frameworks and interdisciplinary research.
