Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology is the first school in Vietnam to have a department of artificial intelligence.
Attending and speaking at the event, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung shared that AI is a new field for all countries, including Vietnam. But in the near future, AI will be present in all aspects of social life.
The Minister encouraged the pioneering spirit in AI technology training of the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology.
The Minister emphasized that the school aims to reach the Top 500 artificial intelligence training faculties in the world, but we must strive to reach the Top 100 in artificial intelligence applications.
We may not be the ones to discover technology, but we must promote the process of applying technology. What must be done so that every Vietnamese person has a virtual assistant? But no matter how smart Al is, he is just a helper for humans.
“To do that, the Academy must closely follow international training programs, especially top schools. However, artificial intelligence training is not far from Vietnam's culture and practices" - the Minister expressed.
Sharing at the founding ceremony of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, Prof. Dr. Tu Minh Phuong, Chairman of the Academy Council, said that the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence was born with the mission of not only being a place to train leading experts in the field of artificial intelligence. AI field, but also a center for research and development of the most advanced technology solutions, meeting the urgent needs of society with the continuously increasing demand for human resources in the AI industry.
With the vision of developing the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence in the period 2024-2035, it will become the number 1 unit in Artificial Intelligence training in the country in terms of research and training quality; and strive in the period from 2025-2035 to be in the top 400-450 universities in the world in Artificial Intelligence research.
At the same time, promote the activities of Laboratories specializing in research on Artificial Intelligence towards excellence and the quality of scientific publications according to international standards.
Expand cooperation with strong research groups in the world on artificial intelligence while continuing to support and cooperate in developing AI products with large technology corporations.
Sharing after the launching ceremony of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence under the Academy, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Van Cuong - New Head of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence PTIT said that the Academy's training program in Artificial Intelligence was built. according to international standards with 2 main areas: Machine Learning and Applied Artificial Intelligence based on advanced training programs from large, prestigious universities in the world such as Stanford University, Carnegie Mellon University to equip providing students with knowledge that is both in-depth, modern and highly practical to meet today's human resource needs for high-quality Artificial Intelligence experts.
The program also includes 1 semester of internship at leading domestic and foreign AI enterprises.
Students studying Artificial Intelligence at the Academy are also led by experienced visiting experts from major universities in the world such as Stanford University, MIT, Deakin, UC David, JAIST, KAIST, etc. … and major Technology Companies such as NVIDIA, Intel, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, VinAI, FPT, Samsung, NAVER etc…
The birth of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence is a specific action to realize the Academy's orientation and commitment in developing AI human resources. The Faculty will play a leading role in directly training AI majors, as well as supporting AI specialized training for other faculties in the Academy.
