Two lecturers of Hanoi Medical University appointed Honorary Associate Professor by University of Sydney

Two lecturers of Hanoi Medical University have just been appointed Honorary Associate Professors by the University of Sydney (Australia).

On the morning of September 11, according to information from Hanoi Medical University, within the framework of the Sydney Innovation Conference – Vietnam 2026, the University of Sydney awarded the decision to appoint honorary Associate Professors to two lecturers of the school, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Giap and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dr. Vu Quoc Dat.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Giap is currently Deputy Director in charge of professional matters of Bach Mai Hospital, senior lecturer of the Department of Internal Medicine, Hanoi Medical University.

He is an expert in the field of respiratory medicine, has participated in and implemented many studies in collaboration with the University of Sydney in Vietnam, including studies on chronic lung disease.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Quoc Dat is a senior lecturer in the Department of Infectious Diseases, Deputy Head of the Department of Tropical Diseases and Harm Reduction Intervention, Hanoi Medical University Hospital.

He has collaborated with research groups at the University of Sydney in research activities on fungal infections, antibiotic resistance and participated in establishing a joint laboratory between the University of Sydney and Hanoi Medical University.

The University of Sydney is one of Australia's leading higher education institutions, currently ranked 28th in the world according to the QS ranking (World University Rankings).

Hanoi Medical University and University of Sydney have cooperated for many years in training, scientific research, guiding students, trainees and implementing specialized programs.

The appointment of two lecturers as honorary Associate Professors is a recognition by the University of Sydney for the professional and academic contributions of Vietnamese scientists in the cooperation process between the two institutions.

This is also one of the results of the expansion of international cooperation of Hanoi Medical University in the fields of training, research and health science.
