Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Hung - Principal and Director of the University of Transport Branch in Ho Chi Minh City said that after 35 years of formation and development, the University of Transport Branch in Ho Chi Minh City has become a center for training, scientific research, technology transfer, with its own prestige and identity, playing a core role in the development strategy of schools in the Southern region.
From an initial training major (Traffic Economics) with 100 students, the Branch has now expanded training to 22 undergraduate and postgraduate majors with a scale of nearly 7,000 students and trainees.
The training majors of the Branch are constantly updated and expanded in a multi-field direction, catching up with new development trends such as Smart Traffic Engineering, Green Logistics, Sustainable Supply Chain Management, Urban Infrastructure Engineering, High-speed Railway and Urban Railway and Semiconductor Industry, ... contributing to expanding the academic space and improving the competitiveness of learners.
In 2015, the Branch built and operated a software system integrating TMS, digitizing the entire training process.
To date, the Branch has trained more than 27,000 engineers, bachelors and over 3,200 graduate students. Many former students of the Branch are currently holding key positions in management agencies, large enterprises and international organizations...

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc emphasized that with its central location in the Southern Key Economic Zone, the University of Transport Branch in Ho Chi Minh City has great potential and an important role in the innovation chain of the Southeast region.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc said that the University of Transport Branch in Ho Chi Minh City needs to position itself not only as a training institution, but also an important link in the regional innovation ecosystem - a place connecting the state, schools, businesses and scientists.
The brand needs to promote its role as a unit organizing academic forums, international seminars, and applied research centers in strategic areas such as smart urban transportation, sustainable transportation technology, advanced construction engineering, new materials, digital in logistics and infrastructure operations, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc emphasized.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc also suggested that in the coming time, the Branch of the University of Transport in Ho Chi Minh City will continue to improve the quality of training in the direction of taking learners as the center, enhancing practical training, technology and soft skills, expanding training majors associated with the need for socio-economic development.
In particular, the Branch needs to focus on training human resources for priority areas such as green infrastructure, logistics, smart transportation, digital technology and smart urban management.
Along with that, proactively integrate internationally and connect businesses, develop international linkage programs; promote business cooperation to organize training according to orders, develop a startup and innovation ecosystem, etc.
On April 27, 1990, the Ministry of Education and Training signed a decision to establish Facility II of the University of Transport. In 2016, the Ministry of Education and Training decided to upgrade Facility II to the Branch of the University of Transport in Ho Chi Minh City, marking a remarkable development step in the organizational model and autonomous capacity, opening a new phase of comprehensive, professional and integrated development.
