The writing contest "Smart Financial Education" was launched to spread financial management skills and enhance awareness of cyberspace fraud risks.

On May 25, Citizen and Education Promotion Magazine organized the Launching Ceremony of the "Smart Financial Education" contest to spread awareness about personal financial management, equip students and people with knowledge and skills to use money effectively in the context of digital transformation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Manh Hung - Vice Chairman cum General Secretary of the Central Vietnam Association for Promoting Education - said that financial education is a skill that needs to be equipped early, helping young people know how to make money, manage spending and use finances scientifically.

He also noted that in the context of strong digital technology development along with the risks of cyber fraud, lack of financial knowledge can cause many people to spend out of control, borrow money for consumption or become victims of financial fraud.

Every student today has their first money, from lucky money, bonuses to income from small jobs such as making handicrafts, online business. Therefore, educating how to make money, use money and manage money scientifically is extremely necessary" - Mr. Le Manh Hung emphasized.

According to him, smart financial education needs to be formed from daily activities and become a foundational skill similar to learning to read and write.

Also at the ceremony, Mr. Le Huy Nam - Director of the Department of Education, Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission - said that the requirements for education in the digital age have changed rapidly. Today's learners not only need cultural and professional knowledge but also need to know how to manage themselves, behave with technology and finance to adapt to constantly changing society.

According to Mr. Nam, many social issues today are related to limitations in financial understanding such as uncontrolled consumption, black credit borrowing, crowd-funded investment or high-tech fraud...

Especially, as artificial intelligence, deepfake and digital platforms develop strongly, the line between real and fake is increasingly difficult to distinguish. A student, whether good at technology or foreign languages, but lacking financial skills and the ability to recognize fake information, can still become a victim of sophisticated forms of online scams.

Financial education today is not only teaching about saving or spending management, but also educating thinking, responsibility and self-reliance of people in the digital society" - Mr. Nam emphasized.

Mr. Nam hopes that the contest will feature more inspiring ideas, models and stories about financial education to be replicated in schools, families and communities.

The writing contest "Smart Financial Education" opens a forum for managers, experts, educators, parents, students and all citizens to share views, experiences and initiatives on financial education - an essential life skill in the digital age.
