On May 18, Hanoi Open University held a ceremony to celebrate Vietnam Science and Technology Day and honor typical and outstanding collectives and individuals in science, technology, and innovation activities in the 2025-2026 school year.
This is an activity to honor collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in science, technology and innovation activities of the school.
Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Nhung - Rector of Hanoi Open University - said that Vietnam Science and Technology Day is an opportunity for lecturers and students to remember President Ho Chi Minh's advice on the responsibility of science for national development and serving the people.

The school always identifies science, technology and innovation as not only key tasks but also decisive factors for training quality, competitiveness and academic prestige.
The spirit of research and innovation will be an important baggage for students to adapt to the labor market and develop their careers in the current digital transformation context" - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Nhung shared.
In the 2025-2026 academic year, Hanoi Open University has 350 student scientific research topics, with 219 topics winning department-level awards and 87 topics winning school-level awards.
Many student projects made their mark at major academic competitions. Among them, there are 13 Ministry-level Student Scientific Research Awards, the Euréka Science Award and 7 awards at the 15th National Student Architecture Festival.
In addition to scientific research activities, school students also promote the spirit of creative entrepreneurship. The project "ASTRO STEAM - Intellectual role-playing gamification platform integrating educational toys" of a group of students from Hanoi Open University excellently won the Third Prize at the "Students with Startup Ideas" competition for the VIII time organized by the Ministry of Education and Training.


Also at the ceremony, Hanoi Open University decided to award prizes to officials, lecturers, and students with outstanding achievements in science, technology and innovation activities. This recognition helps students have more motivation to participate in scientific research and creative startups.
Representing the school's students, Nguyen Le Ha Phuong - a 3rd-year student at Hanoi University - shared: "In the era of national rise, I hope each student will boldly promote their scientific research abilities, contributing to the country's knowledge base.
According to Ha Phuong, research activities help students form critical thinking, independent research capacity, and necessary professional skills such as problem-solving ability and developing ideas into practical application products.
To promote the spirit of research and creativity of students, in the coming time, Hanoi Open University will continue to promote research on open education, distance learning, lifelong learning and STEM fields.
The school also wishes to expand links with businesses to create an environment for students to develop research ideas, start businesses and train skills, meeting the requirements of the labor market.
