On the morning of June 19, Kien Giang University held a Conference to announce the decisions of the Minister of Education and Training on personnel work, officially launching the Board of Directors for the 2026-2031 term. According to the announced decisions, Dr. Nguyen Huu Tho was appointed as Rector of Kien Giang University. Two Vice Rectors are Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Cang.
The conference was attended by leaders and former leaders of Kien Giang and An Giang provinces, representatives of departments, branches, partner businesses and a large number of officials and lecturers of the school.
After 12 years of construction and development, Kien Giang University has gradually affirmed its role as a training, scientific research and technology transfer institution of the Mekong Delta region. The consolidation of the Board of Directors is expected to create new motivation for the school to promote governance innovation, improve training quality and integration.
Speaking to receive the assignment, the new Rector, Dr. Nguyen Huu Tho affirmed his determination to bring Kien Giang University to develop strongly in the context of digital transformation and knowledge economy, towards the goal of not only adapting but also creating breakthroughs.
The new Rector identified 7 key orientations including: developing the school into a high-quality human resource training center associated with the advantages of the Mekong Delta region; comprehensively innovating training activities with learners as the center; building an innovative and creative ecosystem in the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW; promoting comprehensive digital transformation; developing a team of officials and lecturers with international integration capacity; expanding cooperation between schools and businesses and localities; building a humane, disciplined and inspiring university environment.
Within the framework of the program, school leaders presented gifts of gratitude to previous generations of leaders of the province and Kien Giang University for their contributions in the process of building and developing the school.
On this occasion, Kien Giang University signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Vietnam Foreign Trade Joint Stock Commercial Bank (Vietcombank) - An Giang Branch and Bao Viet Insurance Company to strengthen the connection between the school and businesses, expand learning, practice and job opportunities for students.
On this occasion, the school also received many sponsorships from businesses and companion units, contributing to improving conditions to serve training, research and organization of academic activities in the new development phase.
