Hai Phong - On Bach Long Vi island, logistics assurance and increased production are focused on, contributing to improving the lives, health and spirit of soldiers.

Many initiatives to increase production in remote islands

According to the Party Committee - Command of Bach Long Vi Island Defense Battalion, logistics assurance, especially increased production, always plays a particularly important role, directly contributing to improving the lives, health and spirit of soldiers. However, Bach Long Vi is a remote island, with harsh natural conditions, mainly sandy and gravel land, high salinity, and scarce fresh water sources, especially in the dry season. These factors pose no small difficulties for cultivation and animal husbandry - which are basic contents in soldiers' increased production.

From that reality, the Party Committee - Command of Bach Long Vi Island Defense Battalion has synchronously deployed many creative solutions to overcome the impact of nature. In which, the farming area system is planned in a scientific and reasonable direction, maximizing the existing land fund. Land areas that were previously abandoned or ineffective are renovated, supplemented with colored soil, combined with a wind shield system, minimizing the impact of weather.

In particular, in conditions of fresh water shortage, the unit has proactively researched and applied many measures to save and utilize water resources. Rainwater collection systems have been invested and improved, combined with reasonable and planned water use. Many initiatives such as drip irrigation and reuse of water after domestic use for crops have been effectively implemented, both saving and ensuring production needs. In addition, the unit also boldly put into testing crops suitable for soil and climate conditions on the island such as drought-tolerant vegetables, short-term crops, and high yields.

In animal husbandry, the Battalion maintains and develops poultry and livestock farming models in a safe and sustainable direction. Cages are built solidly, windproof, ensuring environmental sanitation and disease prevention. Care and disease prevention for livestock are carried out strictly and in accordance with procedures. Thanks to that, local food sources are always maintained stably, contributing to significantly improving the quality of meals for soldiers.

Green Meals" to improve the health of soldiers

Not only stopping at ensuring sufficient needs, the Battalion's production increase also aims to improve quality and diversify meals. Green vegetables and fresh food are regularly supplemented, helping cadres and soldiers' meals to be richer, ensuring nutrition, suitable for high training intensity and combat readiness.

Major Le Anh Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Battalion Commander affirmed that in the specific conditions of the frontline island, increasing production is not only a simple logistics task but also a measure of the will and spirit of overcoming difficulties of officers and soldiers. Each green vegetable bed, each herd of livestock and poultry developing well is the crystallization of sweat, effort and persistent will of soldiers on remote islands.

In the coming time, the Party Committee and Command of the Battalion determine to continue to promote increased production in a sustainable and effective direction, suitable to the actual conditions of the island. In which, continue to promote effective models, and at the same time research and apply new solutions to further improve the quality and efficiency of increased production, contributing to ensuring good life for soldiers. From there, build the Battalion into a comprehensive bright spot in logistics work at the front line, contributing to improving the quality of meals, ensuring health and spirit for soldiers, meeting the requirements of the task of firmly protecting the sovereignty of Bach Long Vi sea and island in all situations.
