On August 25, Phu Tho Provincial Police said that Thanh Mieu Ward Police had just promptly prevented a young woman carrying a young child who intended to commit suicide in the Van Lang bridge area.
At about 8:05 pm on August 14, 2026, after receiving a report from people, Thanh Mieu Ward Police sent forces to Van Lang bridge to verify.
Here, officers and soldiers discovered the mother and child in an unstable mental state.
The police force proactively approached, reassured, and mobilized the mother to calm down and take the baby away from the dangerous area.
After that, the mother and daughter were taken to the Ward Police headquarters to continue visiting, encouraging and supporting.
Through exchange, the Ward Police identified the mother as N.T. K. L (born 2006), and her son T.D. D. Q (born 2024), residing in Ban Nguyen commune, Phu Tho province.
According to initial information, due to family conflicts, Ms. L. took her child out of the house and intended to commit suicide at Van Lang bridge.
At the headquarters, officers and soldiers continued to encourage and help Ms. L. stabilize her spirit and calmly solve difficulties in life.
After stabilizing, Ms. L. provided her husband's phone number for the Ward Police to contact and inform of the situation.
At about 9:15 pm on the same day, Ms. L.'s husband came to the Thanh Mieu Ward Police headquarters to pick up his wife and children to return to their families.
The incident was resolved safely, without unfortunate consequences.
Phu Tho Provincial Police said that people's information plays an important role in handling situations that risk affecting life and health.
When detecting people with signs of psychological instability or suicidal thoughts, people need to calmly approach, listen, encourage and not leave this person alone.
At the same time, it is necessary to quickly notify the police force or the nearest functional agency for support.
