After just one crop, many types of off-season vegetables such as cabbage, kohlrabi, cauliflower... have yielded steadily, consumed well in the area and initially found an output in Bat Xat.
According to many gentle vegetable growers in Lao Cai, the land was left vacant in the winter, now growing gentle vegetables not only brings in more income but is also purchased by businesses, creating stable jobs for the whole family.
Not only Bat Xat, highland areas such as Trinh Tuong, Lung Phinh (Bac Ha) or Y Ty are also expanding the area of gentle vegetable cultivation. The Women's Union in Lung Phinh has mobilized dozens of households to participate in growing winter vegetables, aiming to build a safe vegetable brand. Some households also apply the VietGAP process, helping products have clear traceability, creating trust for consumers.
In Sa Pa, the Moderate Fruit Production and Research Farm also applies high technology and organic farming methods to grow vegetables, providing for supermarkets and restaurants. This is an important step, not only serving tourists but also affirming the potential to expand the clean vegetable market of Lao Cai.
Developing clean, temperate vegetables not only brings economic efficiency but also creates on-site jobs, helping people escape poverty sustainably. According to the orientation by 2030, Lao Cai province will form a concentrated safe vegetable zone, meeting the standards for consumption at large markets, supermarkets and gradually bringing products out of the province.
With the connection between people, cooperatives and businesses, Lao Cai moderate vegetables are becoming a key commodity product, contributing to changing the economic landscape of the highlands.
These results contribute practically to the emulation movement "For the poor - No one is left behind" in the period of 2021 - 2025 that the whole country is joining hands to implement.
