The tournament took place over 2 days, January 4-5, attracting a large number of athletes from 5 to 11 years old in the city and the Central Highlands region to compete.
Chu Hoang Bao An (11 years old, Son Tra district) shared: “Before joining the competition, I spent a lot of time practicing. I will try to achieve high results and have the opportunity to participate in bigger matches of the city”.
The tournament is organized to build and develop the school chess movement, professional and semi-professional chess in Da Nang city, thereby contributing to promoting the development of the national chess movement.
In addition, the tournament is an opportunity to connect, enhance exchanges and build a force of young athletes to improve the level of professional players, and select additional young semi-professional athletes of the city in 2025 - 2026.
According to Mr. Bao Quang, General Secretary of the Da Nang Chess Federation, the tournament is held annually to create a healthy and beneficial playground for athletes who are passionate about chess.
“This is also an important opportunity to screen and select semi-professional athletes to develop the chess movement in the city and the whole country,” said Mr. Quang.
The tournament will award individual prizes including 18 Intellectual Property Championship trophies, medals, certificates and awards for first, second and third place; for groups with many athletes, the organizing committee will award additional consolation prizes.
For the team awards, the organizing committee will award medals, certificates and flags to the teams that win first, second and third place in each age group; reward the entire delegation with flags and prizes to the units that win first, second and third place, provided that each unit must participate in enough teams to reach over 50% of the tables in each category.
