Danang University trains global technology human resources

NGUYÊN THI |

Universities in Da Nang City need to aim at training talented people capable of participating in the global technology market.

On January 3, attending the 5th anniversary celebration of the Vietnam - Korea University of Information and Communications Technology (VKU), Danang University, Mr. Lee Byung Hwa - Director of KOICA Country Office - Korea International Cooperation Agency in Vietnam shared about the school's upcoming training activities.

Mr. Lee assessed that Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology was established in 2003 through cooperation between Korea and Vietnam, becoming the only university specializing in information technology in Central Vietnam at that time.

In 2020, VKU was upgraded from a college to a university. Since then, over the past 5 years, VKU has been aiming for international standards in the fields of information technology, communications and digital economy. To date, the school is contributing to training the necessary talents in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution.

In particular, in 2024, VKU, together with a number of schools in Da Nang City, recruited the first course, trained semiconductor microchip engineers, invested in a system of practical laboratories, and trained microchip lecturers...

However, in the coming time, the school as well as its partners need to outline a vision, aiming for a higher goal.

“In the future, the school will continue to affirm itself as an internationally recognized center for training and research in information technology. So we also need to train talented people who are capable of participating in the global market. To achieve this goal, the school and its partners must make more efforts,” Mr. Lee suggested.

Also at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee - congratulated VKU on its achievements, especially the expansion of its international cooperation network with more than 200 strategic partners, the signing of dozens of international cooperation agreements, and assigned tasks.

Da Nang City is focusing on implementing urban government and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies, prioritizing industries and professions in information technology, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, science and technology management, innovation, etc.

“In this context, I suggest that VKU focus on further promoting training in cutting-edge technologies such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, fintech, blockchain... to provide high-quality human resources for key industries of the city and the country.

The development of these industries will not only help VKU students have many career opportunities but also actively contribute to the digital transformation process, developing the digital economy of Da Nang city in particular and Vietnam in general" - Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee suggested.
