Meaning of the full moon ceremony of July and the custom of Pardoning the sins of the deceased
According to traditional beliefs, the Mid-Autumn Festival is associated with the occasion of "Pardoning the sins of wandering people" at the Avalokiteśvara Temple. Folk beliefs believe that on the full moon day of the seventh lunar month, all sinful people in the Avalokiteśvara realm, including the ancestral souls who are being punished, will be pardoned and return to the Yang Gian. Therefore, families wholeheartedly prepare offerings to offer to ancestors to pray for mercy and hope that the gods will protect them. At the same time, every house also arranges additional offering trays in the yard to distribute food to wandering souls and hungry ghosts who have no place to rely on.
