Sharing about her time away from cinema, Meritorious Artist Tuyet Thu said that she did not actively "stop playing" but waited for a suitable character.
I am waiting for a role that belongs to me," the female artist said. According to Tuyet Thu, she wants to be chosen because of the suitability to the character instead of her name being used as a factor to attract the audience.
When accepting the invitation to participate in "Len Huong", one of the first reasons why Tuyet Thu agreed was director Khuong Ngoc. The two once acted together and the female artist then followed the works performed by her junior.
According to Tuyet Thu, Khuong Ngoc's films have their own storytelling and color. Therefore, when she received the message "Work with me!", she quickly agreed.
The script is the next factor to convince the female artist. In the film, Tuyet Thu plays Mrs. Lan - a close mother, always accompanying her son. The female artist sees many similarities between the character and herself in real life.
I also talk to my child like friends, there is no clear division between mother and child. I play and take care of my child from childhood to adulthood," Tuyet Thu shared.
Notably, the female artist's two children are also the ones who urged their mother to participate in the project. When she heard Tuyet Thu announce that she had received a movie invitation from Khuong Ngoc, both immediately advised her mother to accept, even though it meant she might have to be away from home for a long time.
Is that Uncle Khuong Ngoc's movie, Mom? Mom immediately agreed," Tuyet Thu recounted her children's reaction.
In this return to the screen, Tuyet Thu also had the opportunity to work with NSND Hong Van and artist Hong Dao. She said she had been guided by Hong Van from the early days of her career, while this is the second time she has collaborated with Hong Dao.
For Tuyet Thu, the closest point between her and the character Lan lies in her motherhood. The female artist believes that loving does not mean overprotecting her children. She wants her children to be independent, to experience life and not completely dependent on their parents.
