"Tunnel" is a film with an emotional war theme directed by Bui Thac Chuyen.
The film reveals the appearance of the characters Bay Theo (played by Thai Hoa) and Ba Huong (played by Ho Thu Anh) in part of the land character.
For actress Ho Thu Anh, although she has had many film roles, she had to be very determined to get this role. Thu Anh shared: "Before casting, I had not been able to review the script at all. I only have information that this is a historical film project about the Vietnam War by director Bui Thac Chuyen.
Just those two factors are the reason why I am determined to get this role. The first time I cast, I thought I didn't have the opportunity to participate because the knowledge of war covered through books was not enough to convince the director.
But when I was called back to the final casting rounds, I really tried very hard to explore all the documents, feel the cruelty of war and the value of the film. After nearly 20 castings, I received an official invitation.
Thu Anh also shared that at this stage, most actors lived by will because everyone was forced into a strict military discipline, plus physical standards, weight loss while still maintaining physical strength to be able to start acting.
As a model, Ho Thu Anh has had many different costumes. However, the role in the movie Geography is the most special look she has ever experienced.
A role without neat makeup, every day is made of mud and dirt on each hairline and nail. Every day, I get bored on set, but for her, this is the beauty of the character and she really appreciates that.
After a journey of physical training and rapid weight loss to ensure the character's appearance, Thu Anh and the cast had to practice discipline and live like a soldier in the army.
Sharing about her most memorable memory, Thu Anh said: After the film finished filming, I ate comfortably and gained 7 kg during Tet. But immediately after that, the film crew announced a shocking news that some scenes needed to be filmed as soon as possible, I was shocked and didn't believe it was true.
Immediately, I planned to lose weight and lose 6 kg in just 1 week. Now thinking back, I don't feel it was a difficulty but a source of pride for me to try my best to give my all to the role."
Sharing more about the tour guide Ba Huong, actress Ho Thu Anh said: "This role really left a lot of personal impressions on me. I felt like every time I wore my grandmother's outfit, held a gun, and carried soldier accessories, my pride increased many times. I feel extremely grateful to the soldiers who have passed away to protect the country".
