The work is performed at the Student Cultural House Theater (HCMC), suitable for audiences watching plays on April 30th.
Set in a poor boarding area in a small alley, the play "Old Man" recreates the daily life of ordinary workers. There, stories of "sitting and gossiping", curiosity and speculation become materials that create a series of humorous situations. Conflicts are pushed to a climax from very small misunderstandings, reflecting a familiar reality of urban life: close connection but also vulnerable to prejudices and rumors.
The noteworthy point of the play lies in the harmonious combination of comedy and tragedy elements. Laughter initially originates from "awkward" situations, but later on, the story gradually subsides, giving way to deep emotional slices. When the truth is revealed, the characters are forced to face themselves, thereby resolving conflicts and finding sympathy and connection in village affairs.

The main emotional axis of "Gia Gan" revolves around the relationship between Mr. Tai and his son Hien. This is a tragic content line, creating depth for the entire play. The image of a poor father, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison just to exchange for a chance to live for his son, evokes a silent sacrifice to the end. Returning after a past full of inferiority, he chooses to stand outside his son's life, quietly watching from afar, accepting to be a "stain" so that his son can move forward with a clean future.
The contrast between the unconditional love of the father and the rejection of the son for vanity has created a strong emotional climax. This is also the highlight that makes the play go beyond the framework of a pure entertainment work, touching social issues such as prejudice, honor and the value of sacrifice.
With a cast of experienced actors, especially the participation of People's Artist Hong Van, the play "Gia Gan" not only brings laughter but also leaves an aftertaste of human love. The play shows that behind the everyday noise, what remains is understanding and love - simple but sustainable values in community life.
