“Once Upon a Time There Was a Love Story” was adapted from the novel of the same name by writer Nguyen Nhat Anh, first published in 2016 and reprinted more than 15 times, selling more than 100,000 copies with different book cover versions to date.
The work received many positive reviews and love from readers across the country thanks to its gentle, romantic story imbued with contemplation about love and maturity.
The film revolves around the friendship and love story between two boys and a girl from childhood to adulthood, facing the challenges of fate. The three characters Vinh, Mien, and Phuc fell in love together, awkwardly entered life, stumbled, and experienced every turn in life.
Taking on the role of Phuc, Do Nhat Hoang impressed with his youthful appearance. The male star shared that Phuc has a rugged, rugged appearance, and a straightforward, enthusiastic personality.
The fact that this is his first time in cinema and the production crew trusted him with the male lead role is something he is extremely proud of.
“I really appreciate this opportunity. Before, I used to be a dancer and act in music videos for singers. When I heard that the crew of “Once Upon a Time There Was a Love Story” was holding a casting call, I took the risk and went to try it out.
Luckily I passed. There were about 1,000 candidates participating in the casting, the production team and director giving me the opportunity to play Phuc, I felt like it was a dream" - Do Nhat Hoang said.
Do Nhat Hoang was born in 1997 and was a dancer in the Buoc Nhay dance troupe. He has a masculine appearance and a toned body.
In 2022, he gained attention when participating in the program "Who is that person". Currently, Do Nhat Hoang is dating Yen Dan - Champion of "Single Star".
Do Nhat Hoang said that his artistic journey has been full of hardships. Since his days at the Buoc Nhay dance troupe, the actor has always thought about “stepping into the light” to become a star in his own life.
“At the age of 27, I am not afraid to be called a rookie in Vietnamese cinema. Because in reality, being the main character in a carefully invested and elaborate project like “Once Upon a Time There Was a Love Story” is an opportunity that not everyone has.
I am not afraid of criticism or praise. Of course, I will try my best to play the role, but if there is anything that does not satisfy the audience, I will seriously consider it to change myself. I hope that in addition to the role of Phuc, I will receive more impressive roles in the future."
