“Stolen Happiness” part 2 (42 episodes, director: Nham Minh Hien; screenwriter: Thanh Huong) revolves around the story of finding a lost biological daughter and the thorny journey home of Binh An (played by Bich Ngoc). In addition, the love story and family conflicts are also exploited more dramatically.
As the villain, Thien Nga (played by Quynh Luong) cruelly abandons her own child and prevents Binh An from returning to the Do family. According to screenwriter Thanh Huong, Quynh Luong is suitable for the role of Thien Nga, a complex character with many nuances, from fickle to treacherous, willing to deceive mother, child and lover to achieve her goals.
“The villain Thien Nga is better than the protagonist Binh An. What she is most painful about is her ambition for money, to change her life, to become the head of the Do family, but in the end she only chooses to love Phuc Luan (played by Steven Nguyen)” - screenwriter Thanh Huong shared.
Taking on the role of Anh Duong, who is ambitious, afraid of losing, afraid of failure and afraid of poverty, Ngoc Lan was still surprised by the role of Thien Nga.
Ngoc Lan said: “In part 2 of “Stolen Happiness”, Thien Nga is the most hateful person. When I read the script, I found Thien Nga to be too horrible. Besides that scheming, from a human perspective, I sympathized with Thien Nga. That personality was partly formed because Mrs. Chat (played by Meritorious Artist Hanh Thuy) loved her child too much.”
“Stolen Happiness” part 2 is the Vietnamese version of the Korean movie Jang Bo Ri Is Here.
The character Thien Nga is also built with similar traits: evil and scheming. However, the director and screenwriter of Vietnamese films soften the "evil woman" element by further exploiting the character's inner self. Thien Nga is not only scheming but also suffers from a lot of psychological pressure, making the audience both hate and sympathize with her.
