Iconic characters such as Superman, Lois Lane and the replacement Lex Luthor will return in a completely new look, bringing expectations for a new opening chapter of the DC universe in the post-reformation period.
The role of Superman is actor David Corenswet, born in 1993 in Philadelphia (USA). Graduated from the prestigious Juilliard School of the Arts, Corenswet has appeared in many works such as Pearl, Look Both Ways, The Greatest Hits or the upcoming blockbuster Twisters.
To transform into a powerful superhero, Corenswet spent many months on rigorous physical training, exercising up to 3 hours a day and gaining nearly 20 kg of muscle. Director James Gunn affirmed: "Just look at him, the audience will know that this is Superman".
Meanwhile, the role of female journalist Lois Lane played by Rachel Brosnahan - an early choice decided by director James Gunn. The actress born in 1990 made her mark with her leading role in the series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, helping her win a series of prestigious awards including Emmy, Golden Globe, Critics' Choice and SAG.
Once a strong candidate for the role of Superman, but Nicholas Hoult - a British actor born in 1989 - was eventually chosen by James Gunn to play the villain Lex Luthor. Hoult has been successful in many diverse roles through films such as X-Men, Mad Max: Fury Road, The menu or Nosferatu, and will now bring the image of a new Lex Luthor.
With a young, experienced cast, and the vision of director James Gunn - who is currently a pillar in the reconstruction of the DC cinematic universe - the movie "Superman" promises not only to renew old symbols, but also to kick off a period of hope and creativity for this famous superstar brand.
