Inspired by the 12 billion laws of the East, the film Twelve tells the story of 12 gods living in human form in the human world to protect the Korean peninsula from evil spirits.
Long ago, the gods sacrificed themselves to seal the dark forces behind the gates of hell, bringing peace. However, when the evil spirits wake up, peace is once again threatened.
In which, Tae San (Ma Dong Seok) - the tiger and leader of the gods will join monkey Won Seung (Seo In Guk), dragon Mir (Lee Joo Bin), pig Don Yi (Go Kyu pil), dog Gang Ji (Kang Mi Na), rat god Jwi Dol (Sung Yoo Bin), horse Mal Sook (Ahn Ji Hye), snake god Bang Wool (Regina Lei) ... to protect the world.
Meanwhile, Ogui (Park Hyung Sik) - a villain character, a crow that will pose a serious threat to the gods and the world. In the past, after a battle with the gods, Ogui was sealed under the gates of hell. Thousands of years later, he was awakened by Sa Min (Kim Chan Hyung) and began to spread darkness on the human world.
The film Twelve is a comeback project of Park Hyung Sik after the role of Seo Dong Joo in the film Buried Heart. The work ended in mid-April 2025 with the highest viewership rating, reaching 15.4%, becoming the most watched short-form drama of the week, according to Nielsen Korea.
In the film, Park Hyung Sik's acting is considered to have a complete transformation - from style (hair, costume) to expressions, acting skills with the purpose of portraying an attractive, capable man but also full of passion. According to Korean media, after a period of struggling, Park Hyung Sik finally found a role for life.
Sharing about the new work, Park Hyung Sik shared: The monkey is a very intelligent animal, but what interests me is that we cannot see their inner thoughts. I approached this role with the idea of giving Ogui similar vague, unfathomable qualities.
Regarding Ogui's action scenes, when fiercely confronting Tae San (Ma Dong Seok) and other gods, Park Hyung Sik said that he tried to express the character's many shades through the scenes. According to the production team, the actor himself made dangerous moves on complex networks accurately, promising to increase the attraction of the work.
Although Park Hyung Siks character has to face 12 gods, I want to build him into a character who can interact, mature with them and be loved by the audience. I believe that Hyung Sik can portray a different person than the 12 Angels, added director Han Yoon Seon.
The film "Twelve" is scheduled to premiere on August 23.
