Although it has been on air for nearly 2 weeks, the film Buried Hearts still receives the attention of the audience.
Sharing about the film, director Jin Chang Gyu confessed that he and the production team were surprised by the developments of each episode when receiving the script.
Notably, in the final episode, Tae Yoon's departure after being pushed down from above by Ji Sun Woo, the scene where Seo Dong Joo (Park Hyung Sik) left and the collapse of Daesan Group made many audiences dissatisfied. On the other hand, the whereabouts of the 2,000 billion won are also unknown.
Regarding this, the director said that 2,000 billion won acts as a "prey" to attract the attention of viewers. Initially, this was the center of the conflict, but after Yum Jang Sun (Heo Joon Ho) was constantly "played badly" by Seo Dong Joo, Yum Jang Sun's goal changed to find every way to kill Dong Joo.
The passing of Tae Yoon at the end of the film symbolizes Daesans collapse. The fact that the father was manipulated by the mother and son Ji Young Soo and Sun Woo - whom he had defied - led to everything being ruined. I think it is a much more meaningful ending than a happy ending, the director said.
Responding to opinions that the male lead took a cruise and left, while holding a gun, he might choose to end it tragically.
According to the director, he did not think Dong Joo would commit suicide: I did not think the ending in episode 16 was an ending that the audience wanted. However, I think it is suitable for the plot of the work, if you follow the emotional developments of the main character Seo Dong Joo, viewers will see that it is a completely possible ending. I believe Dong Joo left Daesan, went to a place no one knew, found new hope and would live a better life."
Regarding the anticipation of the sequel of Buried Heart, the director said that the crew has not yet discussed the production of part 2.
However, he believes that the message of the film has been clearly conveyed: "keep your humanity and live well".
Previously, after the drama ended, Park Hyung Sik shared that having to recreate Dong Joo's painful life for him was not easy, as "Buried Heart" was a long-term project.
But luckily, thanks to the film crew, he was able to complete the role and mark a turning point in his career. The actor expressed his gratitude that the audience loved the film and could show part of himself through this role.
