After only 14 days of screening, "Colony" (played by Jun Ji Hyun) surpassed 4 million tickets, and broke the box office record set by "The King's Warden".

According to the Korean Film Council, as of the afternoon of June 3, the movie "Colony" has officially surpassed 4 million tickets. This achievement was set after 14 days of release, one day faster than the movie "The King's Warden" - a movie that took 15 days to reach the same milestone.

To date, "Under the Shadow" and "The Dead" are the only two works of Korean cinema released in 2026 that have surpassed 4 million views. The film is directed by Yeon Sang Ho, starring Jun Ji Hyun, Ji Chang Wook, Koo Kyo Hwan, Shin Hyun Bin, Kim Shin Rok and Go Soo.

Before its release, the work received much attention when it was invited to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival and sold copyrights to 124 countries and territories. Not only creating attraction thanks to the famous cast, the movie "Boys and Man" is also considered a new step by Yeon Sang Ho after the success of the movie "Train to Busan".

If zombie movies (living corpses) in the past often focused on fear of epidemics and survival journeys, the movie "Living Corpse" expands the story to science fiction. In the movie, the infected people no longer act purely instinctively but are connected to each other as a collective living system, capable of learning and adapting.

Previously, Yeon Sang Ho said that this idea originated from his interest in artificial intelligence (AI). The director wanted to exploit the contrast between collective thinking and human personality in modern society.

This different premise has created many discussions on social networks. Audiences not only follow the story in the film but also continuously analyze the symbols, hidden details and messages that the director inserts.

Many contents created by viewers such as analysis videos, reviews, or debates about the zombie world in the film are contributing to prolonging the word-of-mouth effect of the work. This is one of the important factors helping the movie "The Zombies" maintain its appeal after two weeks of screening and continue to lead the Korean box office.

After continuously setting milestones of 1 million, 2 million, 3 million and 4 million tickets the fastest in 2026, the movie "The Demons" is consolidating its position as the most successful movie in the Korean box office, as of now.
