On April 7, the movie "Phí phông: Quỷ máu rừng thiêng" announced the official poster and trailer, clearly revealing the direction of exploiting folk materials combined with spiritual elements. In the context that Vietnamese horror films are looking for new directions, the project is considered a noteworthy effort in bringing rituals and beliefs into the film story.
The film gathers a cast of multi-generational actors, from veteran artists such as Bui Bai Binh, Quoc Tuan, Hanh Thuy to familiar faces such as Kieu Minh Tuan, Diep Bao Ngoc. Besides, there are young actors and the participation of Thai child star Nina Nutthacha Padovan, creating more international colors for the project.
According to Bluebells Studios producers, the film was filmed for 40 days in Moc Chau with many dangerous terrains. The film crew exploited a series of pristine settings such as Ta Phinh Stone Village, Misty Valley or Bat Cave - places that rarely appear on the big screen.
The filming process faced many challenges when the weather changed erratically, thick frost, and heavy rain caused the water level to rise. However, harsh conditions created mysterious frames, contributing to increasing the authenticity of the work.
Notably, the setting of Bat Cave - a place considered sacred by locals - sets strict safety requirements. Due to limited oxygen, each scene must control the number of participants, ensuring the health of actors and crew.
The movie "Phí phông: Quỷ máu rừng thiêng" shows great ambition when investing synchronously from script, setting to production, in the context that Vietnamese horror films still lack large-scale projects.
The movie is expected to have an early screening from 6 pm on April 16, April 17–19 and officially premiere nationwide from April 24, 2026.
